Frame of Mind is a book of poetry about my life. Equal parts good and not-so-good, more than 75 poems illustrate that life, for some, is not an easy road to travel. I hope you enjoy it and maybe even gain some personal insight.

Ode: for Anna K.
On a mountain of stone you weave your magic
to and through the basket’s ageless reeds
with hands gentle and a heart full
of love that has been faultlessly given
unselfishly to and from—all.
Like a pack-rat—I carry you with me
tuck you under a well-worn pillow
or into a corner of a silent night’s dream
where I see your scribbles—clear
in images and words and I remember.
The hearth is made a little warmer
and the house a little bit fuller
holding you within my heart-of-hearts
blinded by the whimsy of your charms
and enlivened by the comfort of your arms.
As an embryo is carried into a waiting world
I have been bearing your grace in time
to a rhythm and dance waiting in line
as others have fallen to and fro
preying on lust and fantasies alike.
It is of no matter or consequence
whether it is today or the next
but the time will indeed come to pass
when mere distance cannot separate
a bond ignorantly strengthened by time’s advance.
